The six Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division have assured the newly elected executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Local Government level of maximum support, especially towards winning Ikorodu for the ruling party and giving President Bola Tinubu maximum votes in 2027.
Mayor Ameen Olawale Apanisile, Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), gave the assurance on behalf of his colleagues after the elections of new APC executives at the congress held at the weekend.
Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani, the Divisional APC Chairman, and his former excos were returned at the LG Congress held at the Congress.
Mayor Apanisile commended the peaceful process of the congress, stating that Ikorodu has shown its determination to sustain its leading electoral role.
“As you can see in the Ikorodu division, the congress is peaceful. What we did is to reach consensus pertaining to the positions and we are thankful to God Almighty. In Ikorodu division, we all agreed on Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani to be the Chairman of the LGA, and other positions are also a consensus and that is Ikorodu for you.
“Ikorodu has been one of the best and leading local governments that we have in the whole of Lagos State. We are always determined and focused. As you can see in the last e- registration that we did, Ikorodu emerged on top and that is an example of what you should expect in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on his expectations from the newly elected party executives, Apanisile urged them to continue where they stopped. He assured of maximum support from the council chairmen.
“They should start from where they have stopped, because we have to continue to move forward. The last elections, we were on top and we want to continue to be on top. Alimosho is just behind us and we don’t want Alimosho to take over from where we are but at the same time, we need to do more to make sure that Ikorodu remains on top and that is the best we are going to do.
“In this regard, the new party excos are assured of the support of all the council chairmen in Ikorodu division. We are ready and determined to work with the LGA chairman and his excos. All that we are after is to make sure that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu emerges as the President of our nation once again and our party wins in all elections”.
He appealed to aggrieved party members to trust the process and support those that are elected in ensuring that the dividends of democracy get to the people.
“They should all understand that we are all in the party and the present council chairmen that we have at the moment, I am telling you that we are all doing our best to make sure that everyone enjoys the dividends of democracy and for them to get the dividends of democracy, because Asiwaju has instructed us to make sure that we prioritise the people.
“Whoever emerges, let’s all support that person and for him to be able to succeed because the more successful we are, the better it is for us and the better it is for our party.
“There’s a way the party usually takes care of its own and I know the leaders know what to do and the best is what they would do to make sure that everyone has a taste of the dividends of democracy”, Apanisile said.
